I got an iMac about 6 months ago, and I have had to change my Apple ID password every single time I’ve turned it on. It’s so frustrating that I don’t want to use it at all. I need an easy way to login. No 2 step verification or passkey that could lock me out.

I suggest that you contact Apple about this. I think it may take some troubleshooting to find out what is going on and this interface would be slow and require a lot of back and forth. I can't think of a way I could make a Mac do that even if I wanted to. I certainly have never seen such a request on my Mac so I suspect there is something in your configuration that is out of whack.
