Apple Store Scanner

Recently I attended an Apple Store to purchase a new gen 10 iPad. The person serving me asked me to scan a QR Code on some type of hand held scanner on to my iPhone, and then press a couple of 'approve' prompts on the scanner.

The information obtained by the scanner included my name, email address, home address, phone number , etc.

From a security perspective I'm wondering where the scanner obtained all that information, was it from my phone, or did it use my phone ID to obtain them from Apples customer data base?

I'm really a bit concerned about the security of my Phone if so much information can be obtained from a hand held scanner!
