What number? If you're asking about an old mobile number, you'd need to ask your carrier, but the answer will probably be "Not possible." Once you give up a mobile number, either because you cancel the service or ask for a number change, it's no longer yours, and the carrier is free to reassign it.
If you mean some other sort of number, please explain.
