Apple ID verification code Disappears in Nano Second!

When signing in with Apple ID, the two factor verification code sadly is only going to 1 of several approved devices, my Mac. There it flashes for a mini-micro-fraction of a second and disappears. Useless. As sadly are the replies I have seen to equally frustrated others have asked this question in past. So, trying again in hope someone hits on how to actually resolve the issue when this happens. Thanks!

The operative wording throughout the below articles is " Trusted Devices " and where to check for the Trusted Devices

Get a verification code and sign in with two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication for Apple ID

If you're already using two-factor authentication with your Apple ID, you can't turn it off. If you updated to two-factor authentication inadvertently, you can turn it off within two weeks of enrollment. If you do, your account is less secure and you can't use features that require a higher level of security.

I have it too, and I can't find useful replies.

I have a mac and an iphone. I want to set up a new user account on my mac, and sign that in into my icloud account.

When I try that, my iPhone gets a verfication code, but I can not see it. Because I hear a ping, I see a message with a map on it, with the button "allow" on it, but before I can do anything, the message is gone to nowhere.

I have just restarted my phone. Still the same behaviour. Could it be that my notification settings interfere with this process? I have fiddled a bit with them, to no effect.

There is something undocumented going on. Maybe I'm doing something that Apple did not expect, but I'm unaware of what that could be.
