It seems if you got your main photo library on an external drive you cannot eject it anymore. The solution is to kill
And THEN you can eject the drive.
Got two questions:
Is it safe to kill these process ?
If so do you got an automator script to do so?

The system Photos Library will be in use, as long as you are signed into your user account.
Log off from your current login session, before you try to eject the external drive to terminate the background processes, then log in again.

I always force-eject external drives if the system asks for it (when photoslibraryd, mdworker or some other background process is still doing its stuff). No ill effects with that, but of course I make backups, just in case.

Of course you can eject it but you're just lengthening the tie it takes to analyse and curate your library, that's all.
My library is on an external drive, no issues ejecting. Did you JUST move it? It could take time to move and update.
