WORKING Audio Extractor for Apple TV 4K needed

Is anyone aware of a WORKING audio extractor for Apple TV 4K 3rd Gen ?

There are so many ones on Amazon; I already tried one, but it did not work.

Name of the manufacturer and the model is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

There is one I am using, and it works very well: Lindy HDMI 4K60 Audio Extractor ( https://www.lindy-international.com/HDMI-4K60-Audio-Extractor.htm?websale8=ld0101.ld021102&pi=38361 ). It was not very expensive; the sound quality is impressive. I use it to redirect line-out signal to Sonos Port DAC, i.e., I redirect Apple Music lossless sound to my Sonos multiroom system. That was the only possible solution to have Apple Music lossless in Sonos. I highly recommend it.

My LG OLED C1 provides audio passthrough via SPDIF; but I am not sure about sound quality, and I want to avoid the SPDIF cable coming out of the TV.

That should be the exact same quality as from the optical port of an Audio Extractor; it is digital and unprocessed for passthrough. Do what you think is best for your situation, and don’t do things that you want to avoid.

Optical supports Dolby Digital 5.1, but not higher bandwidth audio streams. You may need to set Apple TV to output in Dolby Digital 5.1 format, when using optical.

Do you need HDMI to HDMI (video) + {optical or RCA}?

If you are looking for something else (e.g. eARC), then you should be looking for a different device.

Note that not all HDMI Audio Extractors support 4K HDR, HDMI 2.0, HDCP 2.2 (or better). Look for that in the description. Devices build on the HDMI 1.4 standard are not suitable for commercial 4K content. You’ll probably want HDMI 2.0 or HDMI 2.1 based devices.

Note that most modern TVs can do audio passthrough quite well. Then you wouldn’t need an Audio Extractor at all.

I don’t use an HDMI Audio Extractor myself, so I can’t recommend one. I hope one of the other readers can?

I already tried one, but it did not work.

Can you elaborate? What didn’t work? What happened instead?

I need HDMI to HDMI video + optical Audio.

It has to support Apple TV 4k 3rd Gen Video formats, so HDR10+/HDR10/HLG up to 2160p, 60 fps.
