converting external SSD from Extended journaled to APFS

Hey folks ,note: I have Catalina loaded-- wanted to share this with you, I have been reading and tried Apple support and was not able to convert my Extended Journaled to APFS .. my external drive is attached with a -- USB 3.0 to Sata connector.. So the fix was to go into --Disk Utility and find my Micron drive( 2TB) then above that it says--USB3.0 super media .... so you choose that listing of --USB super media , not the Micron drive , then right click on it ( USB super media) and go down to Erase .... now you rename it-- Micron two, ( for example ) and below that is format and choose --OS extended journaled ...and below that is --Scheme, and it was ( Master boot record) and choose ---

Guid Partition Map ..now it does the drive again and ok ... now you can choose the external drive ( Micron two ) and then choose the normal listing for erase and rename it or not but this time the listing allows APFS --- yes and done and all is ok ..Sure hope this helps someone else ...
