Cursor not selecting and highlighting

Since I had updated my OS to Ventura 13.5.1, my cursor cannot select anywhere in browser (Chrome), Word and Excel documents. It can still be clicked but when holding down on the mouse and shifting left or right nothing is being highlighted at all. I had tried restarting in Safe Mode and then started it back in Normal again but problem still persists. At a total loss now as this selecting and copying function is almost in everything we do online and I'm unable to do so anymore. Please helppppp !!!..

(Wonder if installing back my old macOS version will helps or not)....wanted to highlight this last sentence in italic but cant even do it now...sighhhhhh

Am replying to my own question...

After hours of trying all sorts of help comments from online about this problem of selected texts not being highlighted, I'd finally managed to find the solution for it....and it was rather a simple one too. Lol.

Click on the apple icon on the top left corner of your screen.

Go to "System Settings" (or System Preference for those with a lower OS version) and select "Appearance". In the Appearance section if your "Highlight colour" is showing as White, click on it and select one of the various colour options in it. And hey presto !!!....everything's back to normal again ! Okie dokey !
