SD Card Triggered Kernel Panics

Every time I plug in an SD card to the SD card slot on my MacBook Pro, it always kernel panics. It will only happen whenever I wake my computer up from sleep. Even if I wait a few minutes and then plug the SD card in. This happens with multiple other SD cards I try. What is the problem? I have been reporting this problem to apple for months. This has been a long standing issue.

My MacBook Pro is the 2023 M2 Pro 14” model.

A panic log usually only has hints and innuendo to determine the cause.

The last started kext was related to a USB Ethernet adapter. I don't know why it would trigger only when you insert an SD card. If you are using an Ethernet dongle, try inserting the SD card with the dongle disconnected from the Mac.

Kernel Panics are predominately caused by hardware faults or faulty third-party kernel extensions.

To trouble shoot you can:

—A SafeBoot Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most* extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

unplug all third party peripherals when testing

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

So far it will only kernel panic if I leave my computer sleeping unattended for a while. When I tried after rebooting it doesn't kernel panic. I have tried booting into safe mode a few times but so far it doesn't show that it has. I will try a few more times. The only apps I have running in the background is AlDente https://apphousekitchen.com/ and Macs Fan Control https://crystalidea.com/macs-fan-control. I have quit and disabled them and I will try and see if my Mac kernel panics with the apps not running. Thanks for your time trying to help me with this. If nothing works then I will reinstall macOS.
