How to Retrieve lost iPhoto folders on MacBook Pro 17

Hello, I was having problems operating iPhoto on my old MacBook Pro 17 2009 and I attempted a solution I read here from 'oldtoad' that was to start the application while holding option, then save files to new file on the computer. Having done this all of my photos have disappeared from iPhoto and are not on the new photo folder. Have I just ERASED years of photos with one click or is this dire situation redeemable? ALL HELP REQUIRED!!

Launching while holding the option key allows you to choose between libraries or create a new one. From the sound of it you created a new empty library. It is unlikely that you erased anything. Using the same trick go holding the option key you'll be able to choose the original library.

As a general rule: before doing any troubleshooting make sure you have an up-to-date back up.
