Commuting by bike background tracking

I commute every day for work partially by bike (the other part by train) and I would like to track the km done with the bike. However, I don't always remember to start the app (Running by Adidas) or I don't have time to do so because I am running late. Also, commuting by bike is not as working out with an outdoor session of cycling for me, and therefore I am not very "keen" in having the commuting cycling (15 min each) tracked as a workout in my Health app.

Therefore, I was wondering if the iPhone (or the Apple Watch) can track in the background the commuting by bike similarly to what it does when calculating the steps. Possibly, this solution shouldn't require me starting and ending the session, and should not add the commuting to the workouts.

Thanks in advance!

iPhone 5c, iOS 10
