Still no am/pm?

I am reviving the question about displaying am/pm with time. My brother, who has a TBI, woke up at 3 in the morning and started calling people because he thought it was middle of the day. The street light outside his window lights up the blinds so much that it looks like day.. I was stunned when I went to settings to add am/pm and found there’s no way. Is there a plan for an update to fix this ?

You are not asking anyone from Apple here on this user to user only forum. As users only, we have no clue what Apple has planned for future releases. This has never been an option on iPhone, but your brother may be better served in the meantime to use the 24 hour clock as opposed to the 12 hour clock. It would make it plainly obvious its the middle of the night.

To change to the 24 hour clock, simply open the Settings App > General > Date & Time > Turn on 24-Hour Time

Or yes, by all means add the clock widget as SravanKrA recommended too.

This will help your son.

  1. Long press on your lock screen, tap "Customize," then tap the "+" button to add widgets. Scroll down and choose the "Clock" widget with the size that best suits your needs. You can choose a variety of styles, some of which include AM/PM. See the pic below...
  2. Glance at the status bar: When you wake your iPhone, the time in the status bar will briefly show AM/PM before switching to the full date and time.
