Updating to Sonoma with a partition on my Mac Book Pro

I need to update my Macbook Pro to Sonoma. My adult son had always done that, but is no longer with us. He put a partition of some sort on at log in so my personal stuff was separate from my DJ account. If I update one side to Sonoma will the other side automatically update as well?

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 13.5

It sounds more like a second user account...(?) In that case the one macOS would effect both accounts yes.

>System Settings>Users & Groups are there two accounts there?

if in doubt

For clarification lets see what that looks like—

From the Terminal.app copy and paste:

diskutil list internal

Yes, that could be. I am a DJ, and the DJ account is on one side and my personal on the other. When I tried to log into my DJ software on my personal side it does not recognize my computer, but it works just fine on the DJ side. Is that user account or a partition? I just need to know if when I update to Sonoma it will do my entire Mac for both sides?

I should have put that last comment here. To clarify, I want it to update both sides on both my husband's and my Macbook Pro's.
