When you post here about a printer/scanner issue, it helps us to help you by specifically stating what make and model of device is involved. Just stating Epson prevents us from helping you further. With some devices, the vendor will offer an ICA driver which allows Apple's Image Capture to detect and support scanning from the device. Without that current driver, or an outdated one, you may encounter errors from Image Capture.

Although the VueScan Professional vendor supports over 7000+ scanners, some may require working vendor scanner drivers as a prerequisite for that support.
