As per title. It is causing many issues, especially when entering passwords. I have been locked out of a couple of sites (including banking) as caps was on, but the light was not.
Could this be a hardware or software issue? I took into a store and they said it couldn't be a hardware issue, but I have had this issue since purchased (April 2023).

Don't erase, format or otherwise alter your startup drive at this point. Simply select "Reinstall macOS..." after you have booted into Recovery.
