Issue with the junk folder

Although the counter indicates there should be a certain number of junk mails in that folder, when I open it is completely empty. It is extremely annoying since the automatic filtering sends many good mails in that folder. And I can no more rescue them. I have several email account and this occurs with all them. I’m using mail on an iPad and updates everything regularly.

Using the App Switcher, begin by force-closing the Mail App...

To do so, swipe-upwards from the bottom edge to the centre of the screen - and briefly pause before lifting your finger from the screen. This will open the App Switcher. Identify the Mail App window from the visible thumbnail images, swiping to the left or right as necessary. Having identified the Mail App, swipe the thumbnail upwards to force-close the App.

Next, perform a forced-restart of your iPad:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

After the iPad restarts, open the Mail App as normal - and refresh the account mailboxes. Hopefully this will have cleared the problem.

To Lotus Pilot

Thank you for your answer.

What you are asking me to do is a reset. I’ve just done it, but it did’t change anything. The problem with the junk folder is still there.

NB : I’m shutting off all my apps and then the iPad using the usual way every evenings. I don’t see why a forced reset would differ from the usual way, so I’m not surprised that it didn’t change anything for the mail app.

Supposing that I uninstall the mail app and reinstall it, would I loose all the stored mail ?
