MacBook Pro 2023 battery health degradation (too soon?)

Hey everyone,

I have recently acquired my MacBook Pro 14-inch 2023 model with the M2-Pro processor (Mac14,9) in May 2023. I have been using it for less than a year and just checked the battery health stats.

According to Apple's support pages, the device's max battery cycle count should be 1000 (source: Determine battery cycle count for Mac laptops - Apple Support) and it is supposed to retain at least 80% of its health during this max cycle count.

However, mine after only 63 cycles, battery health has dropped to 93% !

Isn't this way more degradation than expected? If it keeps up with this rate it won't even reach 20% of the advertised battery life expectancy...

Has anybody got relevant data to compare?

Thanks!

Thanks for the response. Battery voltage and health in general are indeed not linear, but I was surprised by the drop in such a short time.

However, after asking around I saw many people with similar results (both health and cycle count) as mine... So I guess it's just the way it goes..

As to if it's going to live up to the promise of retaining 80% for 1000 cycles... we'll see I guess...
