New Desktop Folder Finder Window Size

Hi.

Whenever I create a brand new folder in my Desktop and I open it, the window size of that Finder opened folder is in a very weird size, that makes horrible to navigate. So I am forced to rearrange it manually everytime.

I want new folders to open in a desired size, as it is horrible that EVERYTIME I create a NEW folder in my desktop I have to rearrange it's size manually. I could now figure out how to make the new folders be opened by default with the same size of all my other Finder Windows in my mac. I'm running the last Sonoma.

I am sure it has to be a way to set a default size for all new uncoming folders but I am hopeless... I've spend hours of researching and found nothing helpful.

Thanks in advance to anyone who could know the answer.

In the pictures, my "Downloads" folder with the correct Finder window size (it always opens that size) and the other picture show how a new folder created in my desktop shows after opening for the first time. It happens to all the new folders, they all open in that exact weird size.

It's horrible...

Downloads folder: (correct size, the size I want for all new folders if possible)

Here's how to tackle this issue:

Setting Default Window Size for New Folders in Finder:

1. Adjust Finder Window Size:

   - Open a Finder window and adjust its size to your desired dimensions. This will serve as the template size for new windows.

2. Hold Option + Resize Button:

   - Hold down the

Option

key on your keyboard while clicking on the green Resize button in the Finder window's top-left corner. This action will maximize the window's size to fit the current screen—don't manually drag the corners to resize.

3. Close Finder Window:

   - Close the Finder window with the desired size. This action will remember the window size for future windows.

4. Apply Default Size:

   - Now, when you create a new folder on your Desktop or any other location, the Finder window should open with the size you set as default. The window size setting should be retained for new folders.

Tips and Tricks:

- If the above method doesn't work consistently, you can consider a workaround using automation tools like AppleScript or third-party apps to set specific window sizes.

- Resetting Finder preferences by deleting the

com.apple.finder.plist

file in

~/Library/Preferences

may also resolve window size issues.

Try this:

1) Open a window with the contents of the Desktop - you can do it by pressing Command-Shift-D in the Finder

2) Adjust the size to be what you will want as the default

3) Make a new folder by pressing Command-Shift-N

This folder will inherit that window size.

Unfortunately, this does not seem to apply to folders created on the Desktop directly, instead of via a window.

Another way is to make a "template" folder, adjust its size, and then, instead of making new folders, duplicating that template folder.
