Urgent: Apple Account Recovery & Card Details Request - Genuine or Compromised?

Hello,

I own a MacBook Air, M1, 2020 (running Ventura 13.3.1). Recently, while cleaning the keyboard, my Mac turned on and off a few times due to accidental key presses. Subsequently, my laptop stopped recognizing my long-standing login password. I had to reset the password via macOS Recovery mode. After restarting the Mac, I discovered that I had been logged out of both my Apple ID and all websites on Chrome. When attempting to log back into my Apple ID, it also failed to recognize my password, prompting an account recovery process. During this recovery process, a prompt appeared on my computer requesting my card number (associated with the Apple Store), expiry date, and security code (CCV). I complied, but afterwards, panicked and blocked the card. Several days later, I received an email confirming the successful account recovery, allowing me to regain access to my Apple ID. However, I remain concerned about the safety of my banking information. Was the request for my card details indeed from Apple, or was my computer somehow compromised? Your guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Highly likely from Apple.

"In some cases, you might be able to speed up the account recovery process or reset your password immediately by verifying a six-digit code sent to your primary email address. You might also be able to shorten the wait time by providing credit-card details to confirm your identity. If you’re given this option, an authorization request goes to the card issuer." - see the document for more details.
