Everything on MacBook Pro screen is tiny after updating

I updated to macOS 13.6.4 and every thing on the screen is tiny - the dock, folders, browser tabs. I checked for further updates and now have Sonoma but everything on my screen is still tiny. I can’t switch the internet on in settings, the button is greyed out and I can’t change it. I can switch Bluetooth off and on.

when it first restarted, the cursor moved randomly across the screen by itself, I had no control over it at all. I tried putting in my password anyway and it eventually opened.

Display settings say unknown despite the display being the built in screen. I don’t have any options in display resolution, only the default 280 x 1800 (Default)

I’m loathe to restart as I don’t know if I’ll be able to log in again.

This is my work MacBook and it is now unusable. Can anyone suggest any way to fix it?

MacBook Pro, 2.6Ghz intel 7, macOS Sonoma 14.3

Thanks, AD
