I bought an iphone and it was stolen during delivery

I bought and Iphone 15 pro max through apple.com, and I sent it to the hotel where I'm staying. When I came to my room, I found an apple bag open in front of my door, with 3 of the 4 products that I bought, and the missing one was the iphone. I would like to know if I have to report it to the police, since I'm traveling and I have to leave the US soon. I already reported to apple and they said that they started an investigation. I can't believe that apple sends the most expensive phone that they have without any kind of security
