What if I canceled my subscriptions and don’t want to continue paying but still get this message?

I no longer want my subscriptions but I tried canceling them and it still says update payment method what do I do?

Verify you subscriptions here:

If you did not cancel the subscription 24 hours before it was set to renew, it is likely that the subscription renewed and would attempt to charge you payment method again. If there was not any funds to cover that charge, then you will not be able to download apps until it is paid.

You will need a valid payment method to download apps. Even though many apps are free to download, most will offer one of these options that would require a method to pay for them:

  • Free Trial
  • Subscription
  • In-App Purchase

The developers of the apps spend time and money by having to pay to have the apps in the store for you to download. The above options give you a chance to try the apps out and the developers hope you will find them useful and support their efforts. Without a payment method, there is no chance for them to recoup their costs.

Hi there,

If you cancel all of your subscriptions, then there is no reason to update your payment method which in that case just simply ignore the message.

If you have one subscription that you’re wishing to cancel, be sure to cancel it before it renews as they may charge you for a subscription and not issue you a refund.

if you wish to cancel, only one subscription, but have other subscriptions that you want to keep then yes, you do need to update your payment method in order to avoid any interruptions in your subscription.

I have the same issue, but I can’t download **** I need now because of it. Even after canceling my (note not even subscriptions) free trails…

A free trial needs to be cancelled 24 hours before the trial ends, otherwise you will owe the money for the app. This is similar to a subscription that is not cancelled before the trial ends. If you own money from a free trial or a subscription, you will not be able to download apps until that has been paid.

What if I canceled my subscriptions and don’t want to continue paying but still get this message?
