How to create separate Safari profiles for multiple users on a single device

Can a Safari Profile be used for a second person, such as for my wife, with each of us having our own bookmarks and settings without one affecting the other's profile in any way, ie, such as any bookmarks I add in my profile not showing up in hers and vice versa?

YES The first log on is automatically named administrator. Then go to settings, users and choose name, set up user and password (different from administrator password). Then designate the second user as Standard or Administrator. The Standard user is safer and is unable to change system settings that an Administrator. Be sure to use a STRONG password for Administrator and do NOT set automatic log on for administrator. A good safe habit is to set up a second Standard user and only use Administrator when System changes are necessary.

I set up a profile for my wife and a new window opened with her name. Along with it appeared ALL the bookmarks that I have in my profile. With both windows open for me and hers side by side, I tried deleting a bookmark in her profile and noticed that the same bookmark in my profile was also deleted. Apparently it doesn't work as you thought nor as I had hoped.

Maybe I did something incorrectly?

Sounds good, Saginacious. A couple quick questions . . .

  1. Why can't an automatic log on for the administrator be used?
  2. Can the fingerprint feature be used for log-in?
  3. Does one person have to sign out for the second to log-in? Although it would be nice to have just one browser on my new computer, I am wondering if I should simply install Firefox for her as I have done with my old computer to avoid having to sign in and out if that is the case.

Thanks!
