USB ethernet connection still not working on ventura 13.6.4! what a shame!

I have a macbook pro (2018 version) and my USB ethernet use to work fine ... I remember using it in 2022

(so I don't know which OS it was) ... but yesterday I needed to test my internet connection using ethernet ... it worked on the windows of my wife but not my mac ! (so cable and adapter are not the culprit)

I updated the OS to ventura 13.6.4 but still nothing ... when I look at the fiddling ways to make it work ... I am thinking Apple got it quite wrong there!

Any good tip or more likely Apple own solution?

I have seen a lot trying to update the driver but still do not understand the proper way of doing this!

thanks

Didier

I don't understand your comment about testing with an older computer?

Note that none of the services <...> are attached to the hardware mentioned

but if I do $> ifconfig

I get ...

en5: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500

ether ac:de:48:00:11:22

inet6 fe80::aede:48ff:fe00:1122%en5 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x4

nd6 options=201<PERFORMNUD,DAD>

media: autoselect

status: active

so the hardware Apple T1 COntroller seems "active"

Another thing is, I cannot any other network service than a Thunderbolt

and the one in service ("inactive")

bridge0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500

options=63<RXCSUM,TXCSUM,TSO4,TSO6>

ether 82:86:7a:25:dc:01

Oh! dear ...I have few errors on disk check and some inode issues*** ... but I laso tried another USB-C adaptor and it worked but using the MAC address of the bridge0 (above) not of the ether hardware!

So, the adptor below is not working anymore on my mac but did on my wife's Dell

(besides ethernet it has also HDMI VGA and USB A or B, but I didn't try them recently on my mac)

Ok guys, forget all this (or maybe not as it is not custom things on a mac) ... but I went to https://www.startech.com/fr-fr/stations-d-accueil-universelle-pour-ordinateurs-po/dkt30chv and downloaded new pilots for this! compatible with Ventura 13.6.4 ... and now ethernet is working ( the <...> AX88179 USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet) perhaps the System settings could have section on pilots or extensions or apps that are not working anymore with the updated OS?

Cheers now ;) pfff

USB ethernet connection still not working on ventura 13.6.4! what a shame!
