I lost iPhone 14 pro max ios 17, which is having esim, I activated mobile connect and enabled screen timer not to change username and password. What if I convert the esim to physical sim can I still activate lost mode( pending for now)? Do I have to maintain the service to esim hoping someone might switch it on ?

Thank you for providing your throughs, as you mentioned it requires internet connection, I disabled the dragdown control panel when iPhone is locked state and no one can turn on wifi or network manually, how can it get network when esim is switched to normal sim ( in other terms we re removing sim and not allowing thief to access anything). In this scenario I think that the esim must be in active state so that the mobile network gets turn on as soon as iphone switche on
