Sonoma 14.3.1 - "Startup Security Utility" Does Not Have "Allowed Boot Media" Options

I want to boot my Mac Mini M2 T2 from an external SSD. I get an error indicating I need to allow boot from external media in Startup Security Utility of Recovery but when I go into Recovery/Startup Security Utility there is no section showing "Allowed Boot Media" options. Where is this located now?

I receive the same error message when I try to change the startup disk in System Settings.

This is the error message: "An error occurred while setting “x1t” as the startup disk: The operation couldn’t be completed. (SDErrorDomain error 108.)"

Apple Silicon Macs don't have to have any security changes for booting from a USB drive.....that was only for a 2018-2020 Intel Mac with a T2 security chip.

How was the external macOS bootable SSD created? You cannot boot an Intel macOS SSD on an Apple Silicon Mac. If you want a bootable macOS USB drive for an Apple Silicon Mac, then you need to create that external boot drive on that Apple Silicon Mac.
