Do I need to remove the plastic in the new AirPods tips before using?

There’s a hard thin plastic in the new tips. Should it be removed?

I’m afraid to tear them apart. I’ve tried to rub and twist them, grab them with a paper towel, read the official article, yet they can’t be removed. Could I go to an Apple store to fix this issue? The inside of my AirPods Pro are white and not black Both the eartips from my AirPods broke and i want to buy new ones but the inside of my AirPods are white not black, is that gonna be a problem if i buy new eartips for the AirPods??

Can’t attach silicone tips to airpod pro I cannot seem to attach new silicon tips to my airpod pro. When I removed the others there was some white silicone residue, which I removed completely but the new ones don’t seem to fit despite the fact that they came with the original package. I have watched a few videos and mine are white after the tips are removed whereas in the videos theirs are black? I have definitely removed all the residue. It’s like the tips are just too small? we only have one set of AirPods in the house so they are the original tips?

No, the plastic is what holds the tip in place.

It’s a tight fit, and you need to rotate the tip to the correct position. It is oblong, not round.
