Why do I have to re-download files on iBooks every time I open the app?

How come everytime i want to read a book that’s already downloaded it has to re-download when opening the app at a later date? I have over 8gb free space. Super annoying. Looking for alternative reading apps. Suggestions?

Books and files disappeared in iBook app my book app had many different file types, some pdfs, some epubs, some samples and purchased books from the bookstore. I went to delete a duplicate epub, and the app glitched and ended up selected all books/files in the app and deleted them before I could click out of the command. Now I cannot find any of the books again, there is no recently deleted file or previously purchased file on the Books app which is incredibly frustrating. Some books and pdfs show up in the “recent” grouo of the “reading now” tab, but no books appear in the “library” tab. I have no idea what happened with all of my books and files nor how to get them back! Why is there not a recently deleted tab on the Books app!!

I cannot remove books from iBooks. I have tried all the steps multiple times and it still doesn’t work. I have “deleted” books but they are still showing in my library.
