I am trying to update my iPhone 8 and it’s giving me an error message of unable to check for update

Check to see what version it is currently running by following these steps:

Settings > General > About

If it is currently running iOS 16.7.5, there isn't anything newer for your iPhone 8.

If you were hoping to get to iOS 17, it's not possible.

Battery fully charged with power adapter connected?

Cellular working normally?

VPN....if present....turned off?

No beta software installed?
