apple pencil hover feature missing

i was wanting to mirror my ipad to my mac and draw like you would with one of those drawing pads (not sure if thats possible but worth a try) obviously i cant draw without looking down because i cant see the cursor, i have the ipad pro 11" and the apple pencil 2nd gen, so... the hover should work right?? well.. i dont know why but the setting is GONE?? i remember seeing it a really long time ago when i was messing with some settings, i think i turned the hover off and just left it at that. but when i got back to it again, its not there anymore ?

ive been trying to research on whats causing this, i saw before an issue with this but i didnt see a fix for it 😞 ive tried updating my ipad, restarting it, i tried searching through the settings over and over again incase i missed it somehow, but nothing. im not sure if the pencil itself needs to update somehow? and i cant find a manual way to update it, so ive ran out of options. i really hope someone can tell me whats going on or how to help me fix this 😭 its bugging me so much
