Connecting early 2015 MacBook Air to TV

I purchased a cable to go from the thunderbolt 2 port on an early 2015 13 inch MacBook Air laptop to the HDMI port on a Toshiba TV. When connected there is no picture on the TV and the screen on the laptop goes dark intermittently. I have selected the correct HDMI port on theTV with the remote.

I assume that you purchased a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter cable.

MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015) - Technical Specifications

That MacBook Air supports an external resolution of "up to 3840x2160 pixels" – enough for an Ultra HD (4K) TV. If you are connecting the computer to a 4K TV, I'd suggest checking that the adapter cable is rated for 4K resolution. Some adapters might only be rated for 1080p (1920x1080 pixels).
