Search function isn't working on Touch Bar

Hi everyone,

I have a 2020 MacBook Pro w/ the Touch Bar feature, and one of the things I use it for is to type in emojis. It works the same way it would on iPhone, where it categorises the emojis and then at the end gives me a magnifying glass icon used to search for specific emojis. After pressing the bar, usually, a mini search engine for emojis would pop up ☺️. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to use the search bar for a couple of months now. At first I thought it was a temporary issue, as sometimes my emoji function malfunctions completely (sometimes I'll tap on the emojis option and the emojis won't actually load, but this usually works again in a few minutes), but it's been persisting for a while now (several months, like I said).

Could someone please advise me on how I can fix this?

the alternative is Control Command Spacebar

Hi!

So I just tried using the Control + Command + Spacebar trick, and it doesn't work that way for me either. Plus, I doubt it's a software issue as it's been persisting for the past few updates. For your second screenshot, although I see the option to press the spacebar, I am not able to actually get anything to work after pressing the icon. It has virtually no effect, where it is supposed to bring up a search function for all the emojis. It doesn't do that, unfortunately.
