Connecting a Cinema display HD to a new Mac Mini

I am trying to connect my Cinema Display to the new Mac Mini, with great difficulty. With my old Mini (2014) I had an Apple DVI to mini displayport converter, which needs one ucb-a ports input and had a usb-a output (I presume for power). My new Mini doesn't have a mini displayport. So, I tried to extend the cable with a hdmi. This didn't work. I looked on the internet for clues as to what to do next, but I am not sure about it.

The Display has a dual-link dvi port with two times nine groups of pins. This, with a usb-a cable is connected to a converter/adapter that outputs a mini-displayport and a usb-a. I wish to know what I can get rid off, what I need to buy and what I need to keep; if I can add a new converter to the mini-displayport or if I better add a converter/adapter at the DVI end. I'd very much appreciate your help.

Thanks,

Shy

What you need is a USB-C to Dual Link DVI adapter.

I second that advice.

The OP could try daisy-chaining a USB-C to Mini DisplayPort adapter (with a female Mini DisplayPort socket) and the existing Mini DisplayPort to dual-link DVI adapter. That should work, but someone else In another thread who had tried it reported that it didn't (for their particular configuration).

Easier to "cut out the middleman" and avoid having to worry about possible interactions between two adapters.
