I must admit I don't know why Apple have not made printing & scanning more accessible AND together as opposed to separately via my newly found print icon for the toolbar and the scanner via image capture. Sonoma has made it more difficult not easier.
I have never found a need to print a document independent of completing the editing process in an app and hitting command P to print it. I have no idea why anyone would go to the print and scan system setting to do either of those tasks.
I think about a decade ago I had the need to scan things into documents and not use them immediately in some program. I never do that anymore.
How do I scan thru Preview; I don't see any icon or facility to do this. Can you tell me more please?

And I don't see the point of Image capture when we have iCloud sync and Photos. Can you tell me more?
Image capture pre-dates iCloud syncing. Capturing an image from a scanner into image capture I believe started shortly after it was released. It’s original purpose was to move photos from cameras and iPhones onto your computer.
I have found scanner in the top RH of the Print Centre. But I still think it is quite messy to find. Maybe it's just me.
Yes, I agree. I never use that, but I happened to run across it the other day when I opened the app to look into a question another user had posted. Normally, it’s not something I would ever open.
