Exclamation mark inside the Cloud icon on certain files

I keep seeing exclamation marks inside the cloud icon on some files when I add them to a folder. But the folder is not corrupt and the files open without error. I tried deleting them and creating them again, and again they show with exclamation mark. The files are all pdf. This is showing up only lately since I upgraded to Mac OS Sonoma. Thank you

"iCloud with exclamation mark" file symbol When moving a file to one of my Document Folders, I sometimes get a cloud symbol with an exclamation mark in it. This does not happen all the time, and in the past I have been able to rectify the problem by creating a new folder, and moving all the files into it. Lately, that fix is not working. I can sometimes download a file directly into a newly created folder in Documents and a normal cloud will appear while the file is uploaded to iCloud, at which time the normal cloud goes away. The next time I download into the folder, I will get the cloud symbol with the exclamation mark in it, which then stays. I can then move the folder onto the Desktop, and the symbol goes away. Move it back to Documents and the "exclamation mark cloud" comes back. There doesn't seem to be any consistency in when it happens, and all the "fixes" that I have gathered from the Community Board have not helped. I have a 2018 MacBook Air, Retina 13-inch, 1.6 GHz Dual-Core Intel i5, running Sonoma 14.1.2 (did the same thing prior to Sonoma). MacBook memory used: 315GB of 500GB. iCloud storage used: only 378GB of 2TB available. Any ideas besides "buy a new MacBook", or is this in fact a problem unique to old Intel machines?

Why do my Mac desktop icons keep losing their images? Okay, here's a weird question: I have a Mac mini and a MacBook Air, both on the same iCloud account. The between iCloud and Dropbox the two are almost identical - a change on one shows up on the other. Except one thing... I made aliases for a couple of folders, and keep them on my desktop, and replaced both folders with my own icons. (One is a .png, one is a .jpg, but I have also used .icns) The problem is periodically the aliases will lose their images, which puts me in a loop. Change the icon image on one computer it won't change on the other one, and then if I change the other one the first one changes back to an image of a folder, and so on and so on, back and forth. Sometimes they will inexplicably sync, but then just as inexplicably revert to folders. A very specific luxury problem. Any suggestions? [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Bad alias icons issue Hi all. I tried to find some help here but nothing helped me. For a long time all my alias icons on the Desktop (where I use them) starts to changes after a period. I have used all Mac OS and as I remember, Sierra, High Sierra, Catalina, Ventura, BigSur, all have the same issue. When I have a folder with a specific icon, I create the alias on the desktop and them, using daily the OS, they change to a normal folder. And other issue is when I create an alias from a normal folder, created on the OS, the alias changes to a random icon not related with the original folder. After this issue, sometimes I try to create the alias again but he creates the icon with the latest icon that is not related with the original foder. Like an infinite bug. There is a way to fix that? Now, I'm on BigSur but happened on Ventura too. Thanks.
