Can I go directly from macOS Monterey to Sonoma, or do I need to upgrade to Ventura first?

This computer just barely Qualifies for macOS 14 Sonoma
Suggest having at least 50 GB of Empty Space on the drive.
It will allow the Full Version ( about 12.xx GB ) to download, then expand and then commence to install.
If there is Third Party Security Software installed - remove it.
It will interfere with both the download and installation process.
Always always Make a Time Machine Backup before doing any upGrades
It maybe you only way to get back your User Account Folder ( Home Folder ) should you decide Sonoma is not right for your needs
Friendly advise - Try not to include Personal Information like Full RealName, full e-mail addresses or Serial Number in any posting.

Thank you all for valuable comments.
I upgraded to macOS 14 Sonoma without any problems - everything went smoothly. Also Dropbox works well without any problems. at least so far...
Do you have external drives? I upgraded to Sonoma and now I can't access any of my hard drives. See this post;

If in doubt, it is always a good idea to use a 3-2-1 Rescue Plan
3 backups using 2 different methods and 1 Off Site incase of Natural Disasters or Un-Natural Disasters , like what to downgrade which should not be necessary
Apple would not offer a version of macOS that they ( Apple ) has deemed not compatible >> hardware wise
Software wise - Third Party Installed Software wise - that would need some due diligence on the part of the User ( you ) to investigate that they are all Compatible with macOS 14 Sonoma
Or, at least update-able or upgrade-able

Nor sure to whom exactly the above is directed to
So, welcome, just the same

In the U.S. it's referred to as the search field.
Much like previous contributor
UpGraded a M1 machine from macOS 11 Big Sur through every version to and including Sonoma 14.3.1 and no issues
2 M2 machines from macOS 13 to Sonoma 14.2.1 and again, no issues
No doubt you are aware - Sonoma is probably the last version this machine may Qualify to run though.
Welcome
Should there be some specific reason not yet disclosed - by all means present it
We maybe above to reduce the hesitancy to upgrade if we know what it is ?
One of the Biggest Changes between macOS 12 Monterey and macOS 13Ventura or macOS 14 Sonoma
The change from System Preferences to System Setting both in Naming and Look and Feel
The new System Setting falls more in-line with iOS Setting

Type what your are looking for and generally it will show the results or most things but not ALL Things

my hesitancy was coupled to your comment "This computer just barely Qualifies for macOS 14 Sonoma"
FWIW, there's no such thing as "barely qualifies". A Mac is compatible or it's not.
Thanks!
Makes me hesitate. But I do have 250 GB free space, so that would at least be OK
FWIW, I have Sonoma installed on every compatible Mac I own.
Thanks
