I'm purchasing a new Mac Studio M2 Max and need to also get a monitor. Would the LG UltraGear 27UL5OOP-W 4K Ultra HD 27" IPS LCD (https://www.currys.co.uk/products/lg-ultragear-27ul500pw-4k-ultra-hd-27%E2%80%9D-ips-lcd-monitor-white-10204176.html) be okay? The connection would be HDMI.

Yes you can use an HDMI cable or a USB-C to DisplayPort cable to connect that LG display to the Mac Studio.

Tip: If the LG supplied HDMI cable gives you trouble, replace it with a short premium certified HDMI cable or a USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 cable.
Resolution 4K at 60 Hz is supported over HDMI for all Mac Studio models.
if you need to go higher resolution or refresh rate, only the M2 model or later supports higher.
if you have ANY problems with the 'Shipped in the box' cables, buy a certified ULTRA/8K HDMI cable instead. In the US, this one works and is affordable:
