Media is Not Showing up to Import into iMovie Project

I have started a project, and have my media for the project saved in a folder on my desktop.

When I click in import Media, I am provided with the a window showing places to import from. However, when I click on my desktop, no folders, including the folder with the media, show up.

I don't know why nothing shows up, and wonder how I can import this media into the project.

I'm running the latest version of Sonoma (14.3.1) and iMovie version 10.4.

Any help in figuring out why the folder with the media is not showing up in the import window would be really appreciated.

Thanks.

Open the folder on your desktop and manually drag the video into the project's timeline.

Can't tell why the folders are not showing up in the import window. Might be a corrupt or missing preference.

Try deleting/resetting preferences. To delete/reset preferences open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new empty library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Now see if the import window displays the desktop folders. Possibly you may need to reboot to set the changes. Deleting preferences is a safe procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to your project.
