Installing Wi-Fi adapter drivers

Currently trying to install a Wi-Fi adapter to speed up the internet in my room on MacOS Sonoma with an M3 chip but the installation keeps failing. I already enabled the lesser security option and have applications allowed to be downloaded from anywhere. I just wanna have a faster internet man, why won't the laptop let the drivers be installed? I've tried two different Wi-Fi adapter manufacturers already.

As a rule, I do not use third-party Wi-Fi adapters that require me to install drivers into the operating system as my past experience has been rapidly outdated (read failed) driver support for future macOS versions, and other compatibility issues.

I’m seeing Wi-Fi 6 and 6E with well-past-GbE speeds but unfortunately variously throttled by the GbE backhaul, and am deploying 2.5 GbE wired switching and mesh as upgrades, but 2.5GBASE-T and 5GBASE-T switching is not yet ubiquitous. Dongles, not so much.

If faster network connections are required, MacBook Pro M3 uses Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) and is quite possibly faster or much faster than Gigabit wired networking. Consider upgrading your existing Wi-Fi equipment, if it’s not capable of or not configured for Wi-Fi 802.11ax and 6 GHz (MCS performance data).

As for issues with add-on wired dongles and their drivers, check with the dongle vendor support for assistance.

Fast speeds between Mac and premise device, then ISP and Internet connection reality sets in. 🧐

I upgraded things here last summer. The cable modem is a DOCSIS 3.1 Motorola MB8611 2.5G unit. Running Cat 7 to the Synology RT6600ax (Wi-Fi 6, 2.5G unit), and the StarTech 5-port 2.5G rated switch. Just those changes, without upping the cable Internet plan raised speedtest from 70 Mbps to 260.

The Netgear Nighthawk M6 Pro (MR6550) 5G hotspot is for power outages as it can run with or without its 13 hour battery. Also have a 4300w standby generator now with one-button start hooked to a solar panel for trickle charge.
