Here are some steps you can take to address this issue:

1. Check Charging Conditions:

   - Ensure you are using an original or MFi-certified charger and cable. Using third-party charging accessories can sometimes cause overheating issues.

2. Avoid Direct Sunlight:

   - Avoid charging your phone or using it in direct sunlight, as excessive heat from the sun can contribute to overheating.

3. Remove Phone Case:

   - Remove any protective case while charging or during extended use. Cases can sometimes trap heat and contribute to overheating.

4. Close Background Apps:

   - Close any unnecessary apps running in the background. Background processes can strain the phone's resources and lead to overheating.

5. Update iOS:

   - Ensure your iPhone is running the latest iOS version. Updates often include bug fixes and optimizations that can help prevent overheating issues.

6. Limit Intensive Tasks:

   - Avoid running too many processor-intensive tasks simultaneously, such as gaming or video streaming, as they can generate heat.

7. Check for Malware:

   - Run a security scan on your device to check for any malware or malicious apps that might be causing excessive CPU usage and heat generation.

8. Reset Settings:

   - Consider resetting all settings on your iPhone by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. This can sometimes resolve software-related issues causing overheating.

9. Contact Apple Support:

   - If the overheating issue persists despite trying the above steps, it's recommended to contact Apple Support here for further assistance.

Remove any phone cases you have on it and see if the problem persists. If it does, you can call APPLECARE to see what kind of options you have. If you have AppleCare extended warranty they should be able to replace the phone for you. And if you don’t, if the phone is still under its original warranty (which I think is 90 days) they may have other options.
