Where did the titles go on locked PDF files air dropped to Books on my iPhone and iPad?

Previously, when I air dropped locked PDF files to my phone or iPad and saved them in the Books app, a title page would show, but now they show up as blank rectangles with a lock icon in the middle. I have to open each one to find the one I want. The titles are there, because when I try to use Rename, the original name of the file comes up, but none of the titles display on the icon if the file is locked. How can I see titles of locked PDF files in my Books Library? This happens on my iPhone 12 mini running 17.3.1 and my iPad mini 4 running 15.8.1.
