Disk taking long to load

I own a Macbook Air M2 13" and I recently bought a Kingston XS2000 (1TB). Most of the time when I plug it in, it takes a long time to load(1-5 minutes). The disk is using the ExFAT format, I always use the original cable that came with the drive and I never unplug it without ejecting it first, I've read that other people had the same issue but didn't find the fix. It's an inconvenience as sometimes I want to get some files quickly but can't. I hope there is a fix for this.

When you initially formatted the disk, did you use a maintenance app that came with the disk to do so? If so, this may be the problem. Those maintenance apps almost always cause problems with Macs. Otherwise try running Disk utility's Repair app and see if that helps. Last, try doing a restart in the Safe mode. Hold down the Shift key on restart. The startup can take up to 10 minutes while the operating system is repairing itself and cleaning its caches, so be patient. Then, restart normally and see what happens.
