Erasing MacBook Air error 7005 when signing out of iCloud

I have followed all the instructions for totally erasing my old MacBook Air. I get to the signout of Apple ID, and I get stuck on error 7005 (authentication). Anyone have any idea how to deal with this? Is there a workaround?
