Fix for USB Tethering/Hotspot or iTunes not working on Windows
Hello!
Just like many others throughout the last years, I used to face issues like my Windows PC not recognizing
my iPhone as an internet source when using USB Tethering or iTunes not listing it as a connected device.
All of this happens due to Windows Update not installing Apple Mobile Devices Drivers even though you might have iTunes installed. Windows Update can be faulty at times, so I just wanted to share a simpler method to avoid using it and still have your devices working!
Step 1: Installing Apple Mobile Device Service
- Download iTunes from Apple's website at here: iTunes Download
- Extract iTunes64Setup.exe using WinRAR/7Zip
- Install AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi by double-clicking on it
Step 2: Installing Apple Drivers from Microsoft
- Downloading drivers from Microsoft's updates website: Apple USB Drivers - Apple Tether USB Drivers
- Extract both of these .cab files using WinRAR/7Zip
- Install respectively AppleUsb.inf and netaapl64.Inf by right-clicking on them and selecting Install
(if you don't see the .inf extension, just use whatever file gives you the Install option when right-clicked)
And that's all! If your device is still not working, please reboot your PC.
Hope this gets anyone's issues fixed!!
