Logic Pro X: send program change to external synth on track selection

I want to setup my logic template to recall my favorite patches on my external gear. I would like to assign each patch to a dedicated track in the template, and have it recall as soon as I select the track.

Logic is sending a PC message and it is being received by my synth (yamaha reface DX), but this is not happening on track selection. Logic is only sending the PC message when I initially select the program change number when I am configuring the track. If I select a track that I have previously set up with a different program change number, it doesn't send the program change message and does not change the patch on the synth.

Is it possible to have the synth preset change automatically when I select the different external instrument tracks? I have tried external midi tracks with and without the external instrument plug-in, and I do have the "send program change" button selected in both cases.

Hi

Not exactly what you are looking for, but

In File >Project Settings>MIDI use the checkbox to "send after loading used Instrument MIDI"

This will send all the Program Change messages when you load the project

Or

Create an empty region on each (external) instrument track, select the region and use Functions>Insert MIDI Instrument settings as events

This will embed the PG messages at the start of each track

If you enable File>Project Settings>MIDI>Chase ...Program Change, this will send the PG messages every time you hit play or stop

CAUTION:

Both of these processes may cause you to lose any edits on the external synths etc
