Every time I delete a contact on my iPhone the contact gets deleted in my Google account

How come every time I delete a contact on my phone it deletes the contact in my Google account contacts? At some point my email contacts were linked to my phone. I don't want that. The only contacts that should be on my phone are the ones I manually enter on my phone.

It sounds like you have Contacts enabled and syncing from Google on your iPhone. Go to Settings > Contacts > Accounts > select your Google account > disable Contacts here. Keep in mind this means your contacts will no longer appear on the phone.

That's to be expected because they are all, even the new ones, being synced to your Google account, so if the Google account is turned off it will no longer sync the info anymore. You'll need to decide what account you want to sync the contacts thru instead, export the contacts from Google into a CSV(VCard) file and import them to the other account.

Exporting contacts per Google's instructions can be found at Export, back up, or restore contacts - Computer - Contacts Help (google.com)

If you want them to be thru your iCloud account, you can then import them to iCloud following Import, export, or print contacts on iCloud.com - Apple Support

I never had this problem before. Then Google started prompting me to sign in. I did and then it brought in all these email contacts I don't need on my phone. Then when I turned off the annoying iCloud thing, it decided to remove all my contacts too. I don't want to be creating accounts. How come I can't just turn off iCloud, manually delete all those email contacts and then be able to just work off contacts on my phone, always manually entered? This seems way too complicated.

Thanks. But why is it that ever since I logged into gmail after being constantly harassed by the notifications, it sticks like glue? Now I have these two contacts accounts: iCloud (which is useless to me) and Gmail (which is not for phones!). When I turn off the Gmail one it wipes every contact out! This never used to be an issue. I would manually input contacts and there was no interference from anything else. What happened???
