My old Apple TV 2nd generation had a audio outlet. My new Apple TV 4 Th does not. I have surround sound with 5 separate speakers and a subwoofer. My amplifier is connected to me DVR via RCA cables and the DVR is connected to the TV. My Apple TV is connected to the TV via the HDMI cable. When I use the Apple TV and TV switches to input 2. How can I regain the surround sound when using the Apple TV? Thanks!

Does this setup allow for surround sound from TV sources (other than DVR)? Then perhaps your TV can do audio passthrough for Apple TV?
Double RCA (usually red+white) is used for stereo sound.
RCA digital coax (single cable) can be used for surround sound (Dolby Digital 5.1).
Toslink digital optical (single cable) can be used for surround sound (Dolby Digital 5.1).
Does this amp have HDMI-inputs and outputs?
The default for Apple TV is not to use Dolby Digital 5.1, but it is an option in Settings, if your other equipment can process that, instead of PCM Multichannel (‘Auto’). Like a fallback option. Adjust audio settings on Apple TV - Apple Support
