Is Apple removing blood oxygen sensor from Apple Watch Series 8?

I am a lung cancer survivor and had an IWatch 5, I was on supplemental oxygen if my Blood Oxygen gets lower than 92..I bought an IWatch 8. I understand apple is removing the Blood Oxygen sensor from the watch. is this true?

Not true. The Blood Oxygen ability is not going to be available in future sales of the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 models. ALL the Apple Watch models that are already sold are not affected by this limitation. In short, this only applies to future sales of Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 at present.

Hello Resrick2, I have talked with Apple Support on this and what you say appears to be true. If you bring in an Ultra2 for a maintenance issue depending on the problem you will be given a replacement Ultra2 with O2 disabled. No Grandfather for Ultra2 before the Patent O2 Sensor dispute even if you have AppleCare+. I hope this dispute is resolved soon🤠

My new Apple series 9 does not have the blood oxygen app enabled. Is there a free 3rd party app i can get?

No 3rd-party app, free or otherwise, can re-enable hardware that Apple has disabled.

I haven't checked lately but I'm sure there are fairly inexpensive O2 monitors (hardware) that sync with Health. That's certainly the case with blood pressure monitors.
