Okay, that’s an HP Easy Scan app crash from Sonoma macOS 14.4.

Usual next steps involves updating the HP apps (looks like you’re using the most current HP Easy Scan app from the Mac App Store, too), or using AirPrint, and checking and updating the printer or scanner firmware as needed, or using Image Capture with a TWAIN-capable scanner. Which of those is feasible here depends on the HP printer (scanner) model.

Which model of HP printer or scanner? HP has myriad models many with similar or overlapping names too, so please post the full product name.

What Mac model and year do you have?

What system are your running?

What format are you scanning to, i.e. jpeg, pdf, etc.?

Where are you saving the scans to?

What app are you trying to edit with?

Per HP: “A critical firmware update is available for your HP printer.”

Start there.

The tech specs don’t indicate AirPrint or TWAIN support, which means you’re dependent on the vendor drivers, or potentially on the third-party VueScan app.

I strongly encourage only buying printers and scanners with some or all of AirPrint, TWAIN, and/or IPP/IPPS support.

If HP support can’t address this…

What is the model name of the HP scanner?

This is posted in macOS 14 Sonoma, but the footer shows an iMac running macOS 10.15 Catalina. What macOS version are you using?

I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 6978, OS = 14.4.1 running on an iMac vintage 2019 and this app always crashes after scanning when I go to save the document. I can successfully use my phone/iPad with this app but having it on the iMac would be nice.
