Lock Screen setting not obeying timeout parameter

i have m2 MacBook air. Its barely 2 months old and i am getting this problem since day 1. At first I did not pay much attention to it but now I am concerned. I have set my MacBook display to turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity but in the lock screen it turns after immediately (after 10 secs)

is this a problem or is the os programmed in such a way that the 10 min timer will wont work on lock screen.. it will work only when my mac is unlocked
